La cruz de mayo
la cruz de mayo (the feast of the
cross in may) is celebrated on the 3rd of may. On this day, all
those working in the construction of buildings, particularly the masons or
bricklayers, decorate a simple cross made with two pieces of wood with strings
of tissue paper of different colors and place it on the highest point of the
building. Then they burn firecrackers and enjoy a holiday.
