La quemas de judas

on easter Sunday, early in the morning, many places still hold the procession del santo encuentro (procession of the sacred encounter) of the risen jesus with his mother. Sometimes, it is accompanied by la quema de judas (the burning of judas’ ephigies) amidst much joy and noise. In some places, the burning of these ephigies is done on holy Saturday.
