Las posadas

the feast of Christmas is anticipated in different places. Some anticipate the feast with the posadas. Las posadas is a festive procession and ceremony re-enacting the pilgrimage of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and their search for lodging. This practice was introduced by early Augustinian missionaries and is firmly based on the biblical passage of luke 2:1-7. in some places, las posadas are held for three days, while in many others for the full nine days immediately preceding Christmas.
