San isidro

the feast of san isidro, the patron for farmers and of those who work on the land, is celebrated with special fervor by the people of new mexico on may 15. in some places, this day is chosen for the blessing of farm animals and pets, while in others, such blessings are given on other dates, especially on December 17, the feast of st. Anthony, the saintly abbot of the Egyptian desert, or on October 4^th, the feast of st. francis of Assisi.
